It has been a while since I used Java for websites, and there seems to be a ton of building blocks to choose from nowadays. What I'm currently looking at is using WebWork as framework, FreeMarker as template markup and Hibernate as database abstraction. I would like to hear from anyone who has any thoughts about or previous experience with these choices, or anyone who would recommend alternatives.
Another question is hosting. My current host doesn't support Java and I don't feel like co-locating a server because of the cost. The only semi-decent and affordable hosting that I could find after a quick search is KGB Internet. Any recommendations about hosts that support Java are welcome. |
