Version 1.4.0 is in beta testing, so where do we go from here? The following is my view of the situation, please point out the flaws and fill in the gaps.
I feel that beta builds should be released frequently to make it easier for beta testers that do not use the repository. New beta builds every weekend as long as there are known bugs seems reasonable to me. When all bugs are fixed the program and plugin might turn into release candidates or possibly gold depending on how stable they are.
My top priority is to get an issue tracker up and running so that beta bugs can be tracked properly. After that I'm planning to focus on fixing bugs and setting up the new website (I'm currently hoping on launching it before 1.4.0).
Another thing that has to be done is to write user-documentation for the new version. Impishfae has already done much (most?) of this while creating the program's help dialog, now it just has to be transfered to a wiki (or similar). In the future it will hopefully be set up so that the help dialog can be updated by downloading the contents of the wiki. A wiki for this purpose will be created at dkplp.org, the question is just what software that it should run on (I have only used mediawiki, but I think it would be a good idea to take a look at alternatives before settling on anything). |
