Hello, my guild is brand new to the dkp system and actually is fairly new to raiding, but we are wanting to implement a dkp system. I currently have the site up and running, have setup the plugin and have downloaded and configured (hopefully) the client for what I am intending to do. By the way, this is for Everquest1.

With that out of the way, here are a few questions I have:

1. Complete n00b question - what file do i need to parse to get raid information and is there anything in-game i need to configure to send information to that log file?

2. We are wanting to do an event only based DKP system right now that will be update by me after each event. Say for ie - we raid CoA and take down Jelvan, I want to give everyone that is on raid 5 dkp points for killing that Mob, whats the best way to configure that?

3. I know in the startup guide it said that this isnt meant to be a real-time application for raids, but i have seen other guilds use it that way (after each event the dkp is updated/uploaded to the website and can be checked by members)....does anyone know the best way to set this up? I think this is actually kind of tied into my second question as well.

That is really the only things I can think of right now. I tried to look through the forums on this before posting, but couldn't find anything as specific as what I was looking for, so I wanted to post.

Again, I am brand new at this (but I am in IT, so i pick up things quickly), so please withhold the flogging for now.

Thanks
DwN

The command to enable logging is "/log on".

Use the "EverQuest (events)" predefined pattern set. Do a /who command when you take down Jelvan. Then after parsing the log you can assign 5 dkp to that event (and rename it to "Jelvan" or something more fitting).

There is another possibility where you name the event and assign the dkp by sending a message to a chat channel, which is then picked up during the parsing. The above should however work well enough.

It isn't a real-time application in the sense that it doesn't parse the log while it is being produced. There is however nothing that stops you from parsing the log directly after the raid finishes (which takes perhaps 30 seconds, depending on the log size) and uploading the results.
