Configuration

DKP Log Parser's configuration allows a great deal of flexibility. This allows it to fit with many different games without sacrificing compatibility with others. The same is also true for different DKP setups, the tool is able to handle a wide range of reward systems by altering the configuration.

Initial setup

DKP Log Parser is not of much use on its own: it is designed to interface with a server supporting a defined XML-RPC interface. As a result it needs to be configured to know how to communicate with the server.

DKPLP comes with an existing plugin which communicates with the EQDKP server setup. It allows the parser to download and update member lists, and to upload parsed raids and loots, making administration easier.

The first time the program is launched a configuration wizard will pop up. Information on these settings are described in the Quickstart guide.

For reference this is how one sets them without the wizard:

  1. Click on Edit->Preferences in the menu and then click on the Server button and select the Connectivity tab. Set the field labeled Server url to the location of the base folder of the system installation that the program should communicate with. For instance it could be something like http://www.sitename.com/eqdkp/ for EQDKP.
  2. Click Save and then attempt to connect to the server via Server->Connect in the menu. You have to have permission to add raids, loot and events in order to be given permission to connect. If the login dialog says something about an unexpected server response then the file can not be found or isn't working properly. If the login dialog gives that reponse but everything has been set correctly then please contact Lokorin.

Configuration options

The program configuration can be saved from here using the "Save" button, ensuring any changes made will be kept for next time the program is run. If you wish to make a backup copy, or run with multiple configurations (for example, if you were using DKPLP to manage your DKP for multiple guilds or games), you can use the "Save As" button to save the configuration out to a named file.

Configuration files that were earlier saved out can be loaded into the program using the "Load" button.

If you have made changes to your configuration that you don't wish to keep, pressing the "Cancel" button will abandon any modifications.

The "Reset" button allows you to reset all the configuration settings to the defaults the program ships with. You will at least need to set up some basic information before your next file parse. This comes with a confirmation dialog since you will lose all your current configuration.
