Frequently asked questions
From DKPLP Doc
These are frequently asked questions about DKP Log Parser.
What games does DKPLP support?
DKPLP is supplied with support for EverQuest, EverQuest 2 and World of Warcraft. But it is extensible: you can write your own patterns for any game, providing you can get the information into a log file that DKPLP can read in.
I have too many raid entries showing up on EQDKP. Please make it stop
Configure your preferences on how to display the information on the web server. In the Uploads tab of the configuration preferences, set your Reward and Event representations to something other than Raids.
I only want to accrue DKP per player, not per character. What do I do with the alts?
In the member list dialog (Edit -> Member List), you can configure a mapping from alts to mains. Ensure that the alts aren't represented in the member list, then supply a mapping from the alt name to the main character name. Any DKP accrued (and any loot bought) by the alt will be automatically given to the main.
Note: On the server side, it will appear as if the main attended the raid, not the alt. This is a direct replacement mapping done when the file is parsed.
Can you add support for my game: it's not EQ, EQ2 or WoW
DKPLP is supplied with support for EverQuest, EverQuest II and World of Warcraft. But it is extensible: you can write your own patterns for any game, providing you can get the information into a log file that DKPLP can read in.
I want to use a different set of commands to control loot/events/participation.
The patterns supplied for controlling raid participation are entirely modifiable by a knowledgeable user.
Do I have to use EQDKP to upload my results?
You can use any server that supports the DKPLP plugin specification. At the moment, this is only EQDKP with the EQDKP plugin.
What's this plugin I have to use on the server? How do I install it/customise it/upgrade it?
The plugin is a module of software which provides connective 'glue' from the DKPLP client running on your desktop, to the EQDKP server hosted on a website somewhere. It enables the client software to add raids to the EQDKP website. DKPLP can be used to parse logs on its own, but without an EQDKP server setup and the associated plugin, it has nowhere to send the data unless you export the day's output in a text format.
How do I change the default reward given to events?
The default reward of each recorded event is specified by the last number in the event format. The default format 0|0|0|0|0|$1|$2|0 gives 0 DKP to each event, to per default give every event 1 DKP one would change it to 0|0|0|0|0|$1|$2|1.
Why are new members not assigned the correct race or level in EQDKP?
DKPLP does not parse the race or level of new members. Hence that data has to be entered manually throught EQDKP.
