DKP can be assigned a DKP type based on the characteristics and source. The exact type of DKP can be important as DKP Log Parser handles types differently. The following four important (and disjunct) types of DKP exist, they can be grouped into the following two groups.

Global DKP

Global DKP is a type that has no connection to a specific entity (such as a reward interval or event) inside a day. Instead it belongs to the day as a whole. Global DKP does however still have to be mapped to participants in some way, which is done by distributing the DKP evenly amongst the reward intervals as described by the reward interval distribution algorithm.

Zero-sum DKP

Zero-sum DKP is introduced by zero-sum being applied to the system. It results from loot being bought, unless the zero-sum distribution mode is turned off in the configuration. Whether or not weights should affect zero-sum type DKP is controlled via the weights should affect zero-sum DKP option.

Global bonus

Global bonus is a bonus that is awarded globally to the whole raid from the global interface. Whether or not weights should affect the global bonus is controlled via the weights should affect global bonus DKP option.

Local DKP

Local DKP is a type that acts locally on individual reward intervals. Altering a local DKP value only affects a single reward interval. The local DKP values are not affected by weights.

Reward interval bonus

Reward interval bonus is a bonus (or reward) that is applied to the interval as whole. The value is distributed evenly amongst the participants. So if an interval has an interval bonus set at 150 DKP and has 50 participants, then each participant will receive 3 DKP as a result of the bonus. The type is used to award fixed rewards that should not scale with the number of participants.

Participant bonus

Participant bonus is a bonus (or reward) that is applied to each individual participant. So if an reward interval has a participantion bonus set to 1 DKP and has 50 participants, then each participant will receive 1 DKP as a result of the bonus. This is used to award rewardss that should scale with the number of participants.
